This Week in Wizard Activism: We Join the Fight to #StopLine3
by Jessica Rozycki

We’re calling on ATLA fans to #StopLine3.
We do, too. Here’s why:
For the past five years, the Anishinaabeg have been fighting to stop Line 3, a pipeline being constructed right through Ojibwe treaty lands. The pipeline would pass through over 200 water ecosystems and tunnel under 20 different rivers, including the Mississippi River, whose watershed serves as a major water source for millions of people. That’s where Avatar fans come in. Much like Katara as The Painted Lady, we must take direct action to protect our water, the value of the environment, and the health of human beings.
Fandom Forward is standing in solidarity with #StopLine3 organizers to fight for our planet’s future and Indigenous sovereignty. Together with Honor the Earth and A Tribe Called Geek, we’ll be hosting a virtual action event Fans #StopLine3 on Thursday, September 2nd at 8 PM ET. Kicking off with a Painted Lady livetweet, we’ll join together to take hundreds of actions to stop Line 3. Because as we’ve also learned from Team Avatar, we don’t work alone. Sign up and learn more here.
What if you and one of your best pals became Fandom Forward volunteers?
Make it happen! We’re currently accepting applications, so feel free to send our volunteer page to anyone you think would make a great fit on our team.
