10 Things You Didn’t Know About the Three Stooges
They were vastly underrated for most of their career.
As a guy in my 60s, I like most of the boys I grew up with, was a big fan of The Three Stooges. And, like so many of us, Curley was my favorite. And I have to report that I didn’t try to poke other kids' eyes out, slap them in the face, or go over their heads with a hacksaw.
Other comics of their era were more heralded at the time, but The Stooges seem to have much more staying power. As an example, Groucho Marx was renowned for his wit. He really was a funny guy, but I’ve watched the stooges far more than Groucho. They also given me far mor laughs. So, here are some things you might not have known about The Three Stooges.
1: The stooges originally worked for another comic named Ted Healy.
Healy was by, the accounts I’ve read, an unpleasant individual. He was ultimately beaten to death outside a bar in the Sunset Strip. One name associated with the death is Pasquale DiCicco. He was an associate of mobster Lucky Luciano. No one was ever charged in Healy’s death.
That gives some perspective on the whole Will Smith/Chris Rock thing.
