A Corgi Speaks Out
‘We loved her,’ says Dookie
We have a privileged life in Buckingham Palace.
There is a bespoke room devoted to us known as the Corgi Room, where we sleep in lovely wicker baskets that are raised up high, so we don’t get any drafts.
Her Maj. tended to us herself and she made sure we had an extensive menu all provided by a gourmet chef.
A wonderful breakfast of meat dog biscuits was served in the morning, and for dinner we had a special dog meal with gravy.
But what we used to love the most was when HM would pop down the kennels in the evenings and scrape her dinner plate into our bowls. Oh, how we loved the lobster and caviar, we would lap that up. Oysters were always wonderful but sole meuniere with all that buttery sauce was a bit difficult to digest and could cause a lot of wind in the night.
Truffles was always a problem as they looked too much like something we had extruded earlier in the day, but one or two ate them and said they were really nice.
But what we struggled with the most was swan; it was so rich and often there would be a nasty pile in the corner of the kennel come morning as one of us got the ‘swan squirts.’
