A Few Notes While Third-Wheeling With A ‘Van Life’ Couple

Van life is life, and sometimes life ain’t easy. I fell asleep while driving again the other day and Rain and Corey got really mad. I explained (calmly) that sometimes it happens on the road when you’ve been driving a long time and Corey pointed out I’d been driving for about an hour and a half. Of course Rain took his side, so I was the one who had to walk to the gas station to call the tow truck (I’d also unplugged all our cell phone chargers so I could use my lava lamp). It was at least a mile to the nearest gas station so naturally I fell asleep walking there, too, and nearly had my eye pecked out by some kind of a beaked rabbit. Sometimes I wonder if Rain and Corey have my best interests at heart.

Back on the road and this morning Rain asked if I could hide under the table so they could film a video for Instagram. Apparently whenever I show up in the background of their videos their followers “get freaked out.” She said people don’t like the fact that I don’t blink, or that I have a long beard that reaches to the floor. Gee, I wonder who all these “people” are, exactly.
