BREAKING: A cache of treasure was found near the large carving of Confederate leaders at Stone Mountain, Georgia. The centerpieces of the find are several diamond-studded ivory and enamel dildos that are thought to be part of Jefferson Davis’s long-lost diamond stash.

Ground-penetrating radar identified several voids near the carving, and archaeologists decided to excavate when it came to light recently that amateur treasure hunters might be planning to loot the site.

“The leaders of the Confederacy became tremendously wealthy by stealing the labor of enslaved people,” notes Tim Fugit, Salvatore O. Bandini Professor of Archaeology at Old Dominion University. “Although they’re not known for having well-stocked libraries, they spent lavishly on luxury goods, jewelry, art, and leisure items. A lot of that was liquidated to fund the Civil War, so it’s rare to find large troves like this one. We’re really excited to get our hands on these dildos.”
