Well, I’ve got a title at least. And a piece of art. (A new image from the book I’m working on, Maisie in Hollywood.)

FYI: Maisie is a mouse. I have published her story here on The Haven. (12 installments, 20,000 words.)

Now I am building a heavily illustrated print-edition that I will self-publish. Same text, far more images (with additional comments, like the above) of my character/paper doll).

I know The Haven wants humor. I’m not feeling too humorous right now. I’m having a health crisis. For several weeks I was unable to walk, unable to get to the computer, and if I managed to get over to it, unable to sit and work for more than fifteen minutes at a time. I was just told I need to have a small operation on my spine. Oh yeah, that puts me in a merry mood for sure.

My book, when it’s ready, will be published through IngramSpark, which I find most recommended by self-pubbed authors. I’ve done a lot of research on it.

The big plus (over Kindle/Amazon): all published works can be entered into the catalogue from which bookstores order their product, but I’ve read again and again that if the name Kindle is listed as the publisher, no store will consider it, they assume it’s crap. Anyone with a contrary opinion, I’ll be glad to hear it.

I have a beautifully-designed illustrated book with a super cover. My fifty-pages will probably cost wholesale six or seven dollars. I’m betting that the look and the price will get many an outlet to order one, to see what it consists of.

I’m also creating posters, which I will try to place in local independent book stores. We have (or had, haven’t checked, a number in my area pre-covid). Are they still in business?

That’s it for now, kids.

Sorry Haven. I’ll try to be funnier next time.

Read a few chapters of The Rogue Decamps at MyGuySly.com. A slick of slicks cavorts in 16th century Europe. I’ve a bit of history here. Some of it’s true!
