CHICAGO — Now 24 years old, local data analyst, Allen Karter, didn’t expect any special treatment on his birthday. But when he came into work the morning of June 6th, his coworkers did the unthinkable: they surprised him with a huge fucking project due at the end of the day.

“We had a big last-minute request come in yesterday,” said account manager, Amy Whikum, adding that depending on her schedule, she won’t be able to review the finished project until tomorrow afternoon or evening.

Other coworkers surprised Karter with nitpicky edits, passive-aggressive emails, and vague client expectations.

“It’s Allen’s birthday? No shit,” said janitor, Greg Holld. “I shoulda gotten him a card.”

Friends and family reached out on Facebook to wish Karter a happy birthday.

“Happy happy birthday sweetie!” read a Facebook post with baby photos from Karter’s mom. “Enjoy everything about your day, I love you!” The post reportedly garnered 68 likes and 15 comments, making it the second-most engaged post on Karter’s page behind his August 2016 Harambe meme.

“happy birthday man,” posted Karter’s childhood friend, Dave Shimek. Karter loved the post and replied “thanks!”

At press time, Karter had shown his I.D. to a waiter at Chili’s for the birthday brewski special.
