On a fateful February evening back in 2020, the WBC heavyweight championship was put on the line by the then champion, Deontay Wilder.

This fight was eagerly anticipated because the two boxers had already fought a little over a year prior, a fight that ended in a controversial split decision. It was controversial because many felt that Tyson Fury had done enough to win the fight, while many others… don’t understand how boxing works.

In any case, the two were slated to meet again, and, this time, Tyson Fury wouldn’t leave anything to chance. What can only be described as a beat down ensued, with Tyson Fury earning a technical knockout in the seventh round.

Case closed, right? Well, not so much.

Now, this article is not about the fact that we didn’t need to see these two fight again. It’s not about the fact that Fury has already beaten Wilder comprehensively. It’s not even about the sketchy nature of the American judge ruling that the American boxer was still owed a rematch in an American stadium despite letting his rematch clause expire. Oh no.
