EAST LOS ANGELES — Remarking that absolutely no one dare question his dedication and steadfast work ethic, sources in the small business community of the Los Angeles area reported that faithful owner, Cody Deacon, owner of The Daily Donut in East LA, usually spends the night at work after each grueling day. Every night making a very comfy bed inside his pastry case.

“Man, I really admire that guy,” began Deacon’s business partner, Dale Fraser. “The loyalty he’s got to his career and all his different trades — you don’t see that kind of devotion these days, that’s for sure,” he remarked, removing Deacon’s pillow from next to the croissants and storing it underneath. Continued Fraser, “I wish I had his kind drive, you know?”

Another of Deacon’s employees had also noticed the proprietor’s absolute laser-like focus. “He’s actually mentoring me as I look around for a small business to buy,” said closing manger, Rhonda Hardwood. “When it comes to what’s needed from an owner to succeed, there is no one better to teach you than Cody,” she added, wiping the toothpaste stains from the inner sink to wash the cutting knives.

As the opening assistant was in the back sorting Deacon’s sock drawer, she had informed the entire staff to use the bathroom up front, as the young woman Cody had over the previous night was still in the shower.
