The tense and sometimes argumentative final days of the Beatles were put on full display in the recent release of Peter Jackson’s “Get Back” documentary streaming on Disney+. However there is a steady and calm presence connecting the egos of McCartney, Lennon, and Harrison, and that is one Richard Starkey or “Ringo” as he is better known. While he speaks few words throughout the 3-part, 8-hour series, he always maintained a consistent presence, pleasant attitude, and remained quick to provide rhythm to any new song ideas.

Many viewers of the series are finding new appreciation for Ringo as not only a hero of the Beatle’s final days, but as the more relatable Beatle who the average person can connect with — both visually and aromatically. However, don’t mistake Ringo’s quietness for weakness in a band full of musical gods. Just as strategically placed microphones were hidden around the studios, Ringo secretly drops strategically placed bombs on unsuspecting members of the Beatle’s entourage.

“He’s a killer, he is!” said one British viewer. “Just when the 8-hour documentary begins to start dragging in hour 6 (episode 3), Boom! Ringo gets me interested again when he totally drops a silent bomb on the people sitting right next to him. And has the bollocks to tell them to their faces what he’d just done! Man…no way could I get away with that at my work without serious consequences. Makes me wish I hadn’t quit me drum lessons when I was 12 years old. Just think of all the bombs he’s probably dropped in Abbey Road studios let alone the one in this documentary. Really makes you appreciate the Beatles all over again and in a whole new way.”
