Olympics Wrap-Up

History Was Made By How Much The Announcers At The Olympics Said History Was Being Made

Witnessing history didn’t feel as historical as you would think, but it’s still history.

Witnessing history didn’t feel as historical as you would think, at least when watching The Olympics. The Paris Games have come to a close, and one thing is certain, we were told on a daily basis that we were seeing history.

In one instance, the broadcasters during the Women’s Bronze Medal competition of Breaking said about three times in 30 seconds this was history. The crowd was feeling pretty tame about that, as was I.

History is watching The Berlin Wall fall, or watching the Titanic sink. Seeing a woman from the Netherlands do some nice dance moves was cool to see, but I’m not sure how historic it was. I’ll take their word for it though. China won that dance battle, which was historic.

USA Women’s Basketball won another gold medal, which is history, as did the Men’s team. But the Men lost at previous Olympics, and the Women haven’t. So it was more historic for the women, then the men, but it was still history, regardless.

She’Carri Richardson was going to make history winning Gold in the 100 Meters, but she got Silver. Security Guards made her take the long way around before the 100m Final, making her walk an extra hour or two. The security guards were not aware they were in the way of history. Sha’Carri did get the Gold in the 4 x 100, so she did get to make history.

A wrestler from Cuba, Mijain Lopez, won 5 straight Gold medals. That sounded pretty historic. Isabell Werth won her 8th straight Gold medal in the Equestrian. She’s now the most decorated Equestrian of all-time. Where were you when it happened? I, unfortunately, was watching something else.

You’re supposed to remember where you were when you’re witnessing history. It’s engrained in your mind. You watch with disbelief, so you take in all your surroundings and details that you can.

Some of the Olympic events I remember more than others. I may forget past Olympic winners, but they were all historic, nonetheless. I feel a bit bad sometimes, that I don’t remember all the history being presented in front of me, but I trust the announcers.

On pretty much a daily basis, we witnessed history.
