Have you ever had so much to do that you forgot what it’s like to be bored? You are used to filling up your calendar with so much crap. You even schedule things to do while you are sleeping.

Now, something happens like a reduction in your work hours or a job loss and you don’t know how to be bored again. You still fill your calendar with make-believe events (ex: dinner with bugs bunny at 3 pm Tuesday) to make yourself feel busy.

Put your calendar away and look at the 3 steps on how to be bored.

1 | Stare at a wall

Stare at a wall. Stand there until you start yawning. Imagine yourself to be that dude in the ending of the Blair Witch Project. Once that happens, congratulations. You are not only tired but you have also reached a state of boredom. There shouldn’t be any TV, radio or computers in the room. Only silence and your wall.

2 | Browse dial-up internet

Go to your grandmother’s house. The grandmother that lives out in the country and uses a landline phone and dial-up rural internet. This isn’t just regular internet. This is dial-up internet. Go ahead and watch your favorite online…
