It can be useful to emulate the style and routines of your idols when you’re in a creative rut.

Let me tell you, I’ve been in the ruttiest rut that ever rutted, and I needed a way out.

Thankfully, the daily schedule of one of my favorite prolific authors, Hunter S. Thompson, has been well documented, so I decided to try it out and see if what worked for him could work for me, too.

Of course, there is no Woody Creek Tavern near me, so I will instead be DoorDashing McDonald’s and Taco Bell. I’m also more of a mint man, so while it’s not entirely accurate, I will be smoking Dunhill Switch Blacks to refresh my mouth with a pleasant spearmint flavor.

Otherwise, I’ll be sticking to the program down to the minute.

See you on the other side!
