If You Are Looking for Honesty

Choose a cat for your furry companion

Dogs are loyal. I don’t think anyone would question that. Whether we have owned a dog or watched dogs display heartfelt acts of loyalty in movies, on TV, or read books like Lassie Come Home, we know that loyalty is the number one canine quality.

But what about cats? As a person who has lived happily with cats all her life, I would have to admit that loyalty does not immediately spring to my mind when I consider the virtues of cats.

In fact, I would venture to propose that if we were all as honest as cats, our lives might be a little easier and certainly a lot more satisfying, although we might occasionally be considered downright rude by our friends. Want an example? Here’s one:

How many times have you listened to a friend or relative or coworker drone on at lunch or at a dinner party where you wished earnestly but silently that you could just get up and walk away?

If you were a cat there would be no silent, helpless suffering. As a cat, you would simply walk away from whomever is boring or annoying you. Tail held high, face wearing a proud, slightly superior expression, you would walk away, with no explanation or apologies given. You would simply be stating, without saying a word, that you have somewhere else you want to be.
