In Honor Of Pride Month, I Rewatched “Bros.”

The gayest movie ever made deserves more love.

June has gone by swiftly.

Maybe it’s all the Pride events I see on television or the fact that I’ve been drinking steadily throughout the month, but it feels like I blinked, and it’s almost over.

Given that June is rapidly coming to a close and we will soon be without rainbow-colored corporate logos, I decided to rewatch the universally maligned film “Bros.”

If you haven’t seen it, it tells the story of the unlucky in love podcaster, Bobby Leiber, played by Billy Eichner, and his search for a meaningful connection and simultaneously trying to launch the LGBTQ history museum.

You see, Bobby has a problem. He can’t stop getting laid. Sounds great, right?

Wrong.

Bobby is fed up with the gay dating scene and how it’s all about sex. As a straight man, I guess I understand what a drag that could be, but the caveman part of my brain has trouble comprehending the issue.

I don’t think gay men understand the struggle of the straight man’s dating scene. What a dream to be able to order up some ass on demand. This is not to say that I wouldn’t also find it tedious over time, but I’ve never been in that position. Dating women…
