“Everybody has their problems.”

Four words. That’s all it took for my mum to see red. A single sentence that carried the weight of a thousand challenges. The lack of empathy for my mum’s situation was startling. Behind the wheel of my car, I could see my mum slowly turn a shade of crimson and I cowered even lower behind the wheel.
