My Grandson Is An Absolute Hoot!!!

In an Idiomatic kind of way…

If you Google the meaning of hoot — which, of course, is what you are going to do — this is what you get:

“a profound or medium-pitched musical sound, often wavering or interrupted, is the typical call of many kinds of owl.”

But that is not what I was trying to convey when speaking about my one and only grandson.

So I naturally Googled it again. And, to my surprise, the Cambridge Dictionary knew what I was talking about:

“to be very funny: He’s an absolute hoot. Celebrating & entertaining.”

Eureka!!!

After Googling it as an idiomatic expression, this is what I found:

  • Slang.
  • A hilarious person,
  • situation,
  • or event: Your cousin is such a hoot!
  • Something or someone amusing.
  • And many more…

The picture shows him the night before he returned home to his dad from our yearly visit — who was not fond of the new hair color — we thought it was hilarious!

He allowed his “Tias” to do it for him (Tias are aunts for you, non-speaking Spanish…
