Physical Therapy Flop
My doctor told me it was essential for proper healing but he never mentioned this.
“Brian, I think it’s about time we get that knee fixed.” my orthopedic surgeon proclaimed tenderly, using the “ corporate we” in a rare gesture of bedside manner.
“ It’s a relatively common operation, I’ve done thousands of them,” he bragged, now back in character.
“ It’ll involve a couple of months of physical therapy after and you’ll be as good as new — well almost.” he said, smiling at his little joke at the end.
The surgery
The procedure was a success. It went pretty much the way my orthopod said it would.
Now a couple of months of physical therapy and I should be “almost” as good as new.
I’ve heard that success of the knee operation is largely dependent upon the work you put in rehabbing with the therapist — everybody told me that.
Physical therapy
I reported into the clinic with high hopes and the proper attitude to make it work. I was more than prepared to follow the recommendation of the physiotherapist.
Gung — ho, was I.
