Poop! Poop! Poop! Poop!
Shit Happens. And then you write about it.
Poop is part of life and personal essays are about life, so it’s no surprise that as a writer of personal essays I’ve done a certain amount of writing about poop.
One of the first things I learned when I started writing for the New York Times many years ago was that you aren’t allowed to use the word “poop” in the New York Times. Nor are you allowed to get around that prohibition by using the word “turds.”
Or “shit.” Or “crap.”
The Old Gray Lady had certain standards when it came to language, and I had to abide by them.
But on Medium?
One of the many great things about this platform is that you’re free to use the word “poop.”
And I have.
To be specific, I’ve published 922 Medium stories and five of them take on this topic. I know you’re curious, so here’s a roundup of my poop-related Medium posts. Let me know which one is your favorite.
Extra Bonus Points if you read all five!
