The President unilaterally declared himself Time’s Man of the Century today. “And I mean ‘man’ not ‘person’ because I’m all man. Real man.” He made the announcement by early morning Tweet. “They can’t pussyfoot this. Grabbing the cover by the hairs.”

Neither the announcement, nor the announcement by Tweet caught anyone by surprise.

His Tweet followed Monday’s announcement of Time’s short list which included Colin Kaepernick, who started the NFL’s kneeling controversy, the Dreamers and #MeToo movements, and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un. He considers Time’s decision to put them on the same standing with his own divinely chosen person, “whom more Americans voted for than for any President in the history of elections.”

“Legitimate non-immigrant Americans. More of them. By the millions,” he backtracked in a later Tweet.

“The President doesn’t recognize the equivalence of those four highly controversial and unAmerican selections with the prestige of his own office,” Sara Huckabee Sanders said during the unveiling of the new cover, prepared for Time to publish by the White House communications team. “Two of them aren’t even persons. One’s just a Twitter hashtag. Who in this country takes Twitter seriously?”

“The President?” suggested Reuter’s correspondent Steve Holland.

“That’s my point,” Huckabee countered. “You can’t compare the President to them.”

“What if Time Magazine refuses to cooperate?” asked Melanie Arter of CBS.

“I don’t think they have a choice. He is the Commander in Chief. I don’t think anyone here really wants the President to nationalize the Fake News and force you to speak the truth.”

She added that Time will announce their selection of the President and his cover tomorrow morning at 7 am on the Today Show.
