Rams Gather in San Angelo to Protest City Council Proposal

SAN ANGELO (AP) — Male sheep from across the US gathered in San Angelo, Texas, on Thursday, in what is being called the largest herd to descend upon the city in recent memory. San Angelo is widely known for its elaborately decorated sheep statues. The rams came to protest a recent proposal by San Angelo’s city council that would reverse the current ordinance, which allows the statues to be male or female. The proposal states that …all future statues will be female in honor of the Miss Wool of America pageant, which is consistent with the pageant’s original intent.

“The city council has been bought off,” said Cedric, a 300-pound Lincoln with long, reddish hair. “But you’ll never see that in the news because ewes control the media.”

The rams represent nearly every state. Most have ties to one or more of the groups that have taken root in rural areas, espousing extreme political views. While the groups remain disparate, common threads unite them. A core belief of these groups is that ewes have been conspiring with farmers to eradicate males from the species.

“I get it,” said Winston, a lanky Suffolk that had driven all night from North Dakota to attend the rally with some friends. “These farmers are lonely and they’re suckers for a pretty face. They think they’re in love but don’t realize that…
