Republicans Remember January 6th Capitol Riot By Vowing To “Not Really Change Much”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The horrific January 6th, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol seemed to stop time as mobs of supporters of President Donald Trump charged the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. in an effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.

A year later, Congress is still grappling with a polarized America as members reflect on the surreal event that injured hundreds and killed five.

Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had this to say when asked about the January 6th attack:

“It was one of the darkest days in the history of this nation. But hey, you can’t win them all. Even Michael Jordan had bad games.”

We then pressed McConnell to name three NBA teams, which he could not. He continued:

“Did we enable this by voting for Donald Trump? Sure. Was it questionable that we continued to support him despite everything he did before that? Perhaps. I mean, the Access Hollywood tape should have been the end of him, right? Anyway, we’re focused on putting this whole mishap behind us and we’re confident that Trump will be the nominee again in 2024.”

We also reached out to Senator Ted Cruz for comment but a representative from his office said he was “busy playing RollerCoaster Tycoon.”
