With exact dates and times soon to be announced, our sources have recently learned that singer Robert Smith, current frontman of The Cure, will be replacing Sy Snootles as the lead singer of The Max Rebo Band, in an all-galaxy tour in late 2024.

Smith is best known for forming The Cure, the ground-breaking new wave band who swept the US in the early 80’s with massive hits such as “Just Like Heaven”, “Boys Don’t Cry” and “Friday I’m in Love.”

Smith, currently on hiatus from working on and releasing a new album for 2024, was approached by Rebo at the start of this year after a slow declining Sy, who entered rehab about a month ago, said the band.

“We couldn’t have pictured anyone but [Smith] taking Sy’s place. The vocal range, the plaintive voice and… other similarities, are just uncanny.”

With Smith in place, The Rebo Band is set to embark on their tour later this year. When asked if they’ll be playing at Jabba’s, Max replied, “that remains to be seen.” Further commenting that, “he’s [Jabba] obviously very particular. We wouldn’t want to put Smith in a place where his emotional and perhaps physical safety would be in any danger.”

Smith has expressed he is “very excited” about touring with the galaxy-famous trio. “I just hope I can do justice to her [Sy’s] voice with relative ease. Not sure why they picked me as a replacement, but it’s an honor.”
