A fascinating study suggests it’s possible that we might remain conscious after death.

Patients who died after cardiac arrest revealed a surge of conscious-like brain activity in the part of the brain associated with dreaming and altered states of consciousness. Areas of the brain associated with cognitive processes were involved, suggesting a connection between brain activity and the near-death state.

Yikes. It means of course that one should not say anything bad about the deceased person for at least a few minutes if one is in the room with them, because, who knows, they might be able to hear. So watch your mouth!

The study used EEG (electroencephalography) monitoring to investigate the brain activity of the comatose patients who died after cardiac arrest. (EEG allows researchers to detect and record the electrical signals produced by the brain’s neurons, providing insights into brain wave patterns and activity.

Luckily, after a few minutes this activity ceases.

Welcome to the great empty beyond.

It means the brain no longer sends any electrical signals. And of course, without electric…
