Scientists: There Is A Sword Hanging Over Your Ego
It’s only a matter of time…
Thanksgiving service, Thursday Nov 25, 2021, Duluth MN. Transcribed by Shelly Young.
It was the first body-switching movie, told thousands of years ago by the Greek myths.
Damocles thought it must be so good to be king, until the King, Dionysius, let him trade places. Sitting on Dionysius’ throne, Damocles saw that there was sword hanging over it, held up in the air by just one hair from a horse’s head. It might drop on him at any time!!! “Help! cried Damocles. I want to switch back!!!”
So Damocles was allowed to switch back, having supposedly learned a lesson — uneasy lies the head that wears the crown?
But of course, little did Damocles know, after the movie ended, that there was still a sword dangling over his head. There is a sword hanging over all of our heads. We might as well have a little countdown going on our iPhones, counting down the seconds of our life, to remind us that one day the seconds remaining will be none. And the sword will drop on our heads. There are 2,027,000,000 seconds in an average lifetime. How many more seconds do you have left?
You know your ego is in a bit of trouble, don’t you? It’s a very dicey situation…
