After more than 20 years since the airing of the finale, the show about nothing in New York is back in action. This reboot will follow the same four characters as the original as they go on new adventures and encounter new crazy characters. So far, little is known about the project, but allow me to fill you in on everything we know so far.

To start: Let’s go over the cast. Obviously, the original cast has aged quite a bit since the end of Seinfeld, so the executives decided to go with some younger faces to bring in a larger demographic of viewers.

The role of Jerry Seinfeld will be played by Austin Butler who you may know from “Elvis” and “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood”. Butler has made it very clear recently that what he wants more than anything else in showbiz is to drop all this dramatic acting and return to his Nickelodeon sitcom days. Looks like his wish was granted! Personally, I think his face is just weird enough to play Seinfeld, and I can’t wait to see what he does with the character.

The role of Elaine Benes will be played by Zendaya who you may know from “Euphoria” and “Space Jam: A New Legacy”. Looks like another former child star has made the list! Her character from her breakout role in “Shake It Up” is very similar to how we saw Elaine in the original Seinfeld, so I’m confident she could nail this role if she tried to play it safe, but we all know Zendaya. This is gonna be a new era of Elaine we are all waiting eagerly for.

The role of George Costanza will be played by Jason Alexander. What? You think they’d replace him? He was the best part of the original.

The role of Kramer will be played by Timothee Chalamet who you may know from “Batman Begins” and “Citizen Kane”. This guy is in everything these days. Fresh off the announcement of his new movie, “Citizen Kane 2”, the execs knew they had to get his name on this project. I, for one, am not complaining!

On top of that star-studded cast, we know we will be getting cameos from Larry David, Chris Pratt, Michael J. Fox, and the ghost of Regis Philbin. We also have confirmation that the original apartment and Chinese restaurant sets will be used for the reboot.

In terms of episodes and plot, the writers have been very secretive. Fortunately, they don’t shred their documents before throwing them out, so we know the show will follow the same format as the original, bringing in new episodes such as “Kramer goes to Laugh Factory” and “Jerry Dates a 17 Year Old” and possibly even revisiting plots from original episodes. The writing team has teased even going so far as to do a shot-for-shot remake of the Junior Mint and Masturbation episodes.

The Seinfeld reboot, officially titled “Seinfeld 2” will begin filming in July of 2023. Seasons one through six will air in the spring of 2024 on Paramount Plus.
