Ever since Winona moved to my luxurious digs in the country, her faith in cute furry creatures has been seriously compromised if not destroyed.
This was evident the first year of our courtship, when she brought home a coyote. The coyote wasn’t crazy about being brought home. He was more interested in eating one of Winona’s arms, but she put him in a hammerlock which, to a coyote, is the same as marriage.
It worked on me as well.
Winona eventually released the hammerlock, and the coyote remained befuddled for days, not knowing whether the marriage was confirmed, or my wife was just playing with his emotions. I finally coaxed him out of the house with a ham.
Winona decided to bring it pieces of apple and dress it in some of her granddaughter’s baby clothes.
Then there was the rabbit that made a lair for itself under one of our bushes. Winona decided to bring it pieces of apple and dress it in some of her granddaughter’s baby clothes.
