The Birth of Black Privilege?

The race card is the new Ace card

A New York City restaurant hostess is resting at home. She was beaten up by some hungry customers. Customers who were too hungry to show proof of vaccination.

Watch the video and wonder what we are coming to. The 22-year-old is attacked by three Black women. There’s also a guy wearing red underwear running around. Whatever.

Before we jump to any conclusions, no, the women aren’t anti-vaxxers. Not even hungry anti-vaxxers.

Justin Moore, their lawyer, said they all had proof of vaccination. So why beat up someone who’s just doing their job? According to Moore, because the vaccination proof was “questioned arbitrarily and unjustifiably.” And they were questioned this way because they are Black.

Has the race card become the new Ace card? Maybe. The lawyer is using it as a get-out-of-jail-free card.

Really?

These women were vaccinated. They were asked for proof because of a New York City mandate. Sure, they were tourists from Texas. And, unsurprisingly, Texas does not require proof of vaccination.

But, presumably, Kaeita, Sally, or Tyonnie knows how to read. A big sign outside the restaurant informs customers of the rule. If they don’t like what the sign says, they can still dine at the restaurant —outdoors. If they want to eat inside, they show proof of vaccination. If they don’t want to show proof of vaccination or eat outside, what can they do?

How about going to a different restaurant? No, that won’t work since they all have the same requirement. A picnic? In the park?

Nah — let’s just beat the shit out of this kid. Quick! What’s the excuse? Let’s turn it into a race thing.

Yeah — the attitude and look on that privileged white waitress. You know she got that high-paying job because she’s white. And hates Blacks. Hates anybody who doesn’t have pearly white skin. And that tone was demeaning. A holier than thou attitude. What was she thinking treating these sophisticated women like that?

Enough!

There is no excuse. No race, gender, or food group is an excuse for beating up a person who is doing their job.

There is nothing unjustified in respecting the law.

There is nothing arbitrary in doing your job.
