The Sinner’s Guide To Getting Into Heaven
It’s harder than ever to enter Paradise. You need a plan.
Let me talk to you for a moment about the power of prayer.
When I was twelve years old, I prayed to God that the song “Shine” by Collective Soul would never be removed from the radio.
Just today, thirty years later, what song did I hear?
“Butterfly” by Crazy Town. Right after that, I heard “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt. Then, like God sending a rainbow to remind the world that everyone is gay, they played the song I prayed so hard would never leave the airwaves.
I’d like to think that God answered my young prayer, but maybe it’s just an evergreen song that plenty of people still like, and it never left popular music rotation on the radio.
I can’t count on God to get me into Heaven for one answered prayer because, like all of you, I am a sinner who falls short of God’s glory.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t bend the rules a bit in our favor. The Jews have plenty of little tricks they employ to maximize their grace in the eyes of The Lord.
That isn’t an antisemitic thing to say, by the way. It’s true. They even have a name for it: Eruvs.
