Ugley, England
The name was actually recorded in 1401 as “Uggele” and possibly means “woodland clearing of a man named Ugga”. I once knew a guy named Ugmo, a moniker he was given because it was said that he couldn’t “be anymo ugly.” Poor guy.
Dull, Scotland
Dull derived from the Pictish word “dol” meaning “water-meadow”. It’s reported that the town is much more lively than it sounds, especially on August 9th, which was declared Boring and Dull Day in Dull’s sister town of Boring, Oregon, USA.
