Nor are you particularly clever. Get over yourself.

The illusion of physical attractiveness is programmed into your brain by your DNA in order that it might replicate itself. That is the sole purpose of life, as you know — replication of the genetic code. As I have mentioned earlier, a chicken is an egg’s way of making another egg. And a human male is some sperm’s way of making some more sperm. A human female is an egg’s way of making eggs Benedict (see, she meets a guy named Benedict, and…)

In order for the clever sperm and ovum to accomplish this magical task — presto changeo! there’s a baby! — it uses the mechanism of physical attraction which enacted in the human brain by a bunch of secretions of very naughty chemicals indeed.

“Me so horny!”

The male is attracted to females whom the egg/sperm commander ruling his life thinks would do well at motherhood and give him some healthy offspring. Evolution has selected these traits in this game of physical attractiveness:

1. Symmetry of features.

If her eyes are too close together her baby will probably die.

2. Youth.
