When Is It OK To Hit On Women?

Let’s clear up this confusion once and for all.

Catherine Deneuve famously said in 2018 when MeToo hit, “Men should be free to hit on women.”

Well, apparently not.

Especially in the news business. In 2023, if you hit on a woman at work you can pretty much count on a shitstorm. But men CONTINUE to hit on women. Why? Because they adore Catherine Deneuve and they feel validated by her? Or because they can’t help themselves?

In the interest of clearing things up for men who may be confused, no, it’s NOT OKAY to hit on women at work.

But should men never hit on females?

That can’t be the answer, because then we might go extinct as a species. Hitting on females, after all, has been known to cause reproduction.

However, it must be said that most of the time, we women are not just lolling about in the world waiting for a dude to come up and hit on us. We’re engaged in an errand, or a task, or something with a purpose. We are waiting for a friend at a bar, not waiting to be hit on. We are wearing these shorts because it’s fucking hot out, not because we want some hot guy to peel them off and put his pee-pee in us.
