Which HAIM Sister Should I Go Out With? A Date with Destiny
Three Women, One Chance. All Correct Answers.
There’s are some timeless, tough choices we’ve been asked over the years: Mary Ann or Ginger,
Hot girl or other hot girl, cute girl or other cute girl. These are though choices. So for the next installment, I present my latest day dream debate: which of the sisters-HAIM should I go out with?
Let’s jump into the variety of archetypes
to start. Blonde, brunette or red head?
Danielle is a Brunette. Este is a blonde. Alana is, well, a brown-ish haired woman. Alana needs to make her hair red, so we can have an easier choice of Red/Blonde/Brunette. We don’t have that 3-way hair choice, so we’ll move on to their personality.
Danielle seems like the serious one. The deep one.
There’s their song ‘Go Slow’ on the 1st album. This song is very in tune with being in a relationship. ‘Go slow, so I can hear everything you’re saying.’ Absorbing every word, in a seemingly tense moment. Will she be like that with me? Do I want this? Maybe.
Este, hands down, is the wild one. I just saw her in a Jack Daniels commercial. That’s next level wild. She’s been quite vocal of her stage presence, with her wonderful contortions and face movements. That was wild enough. So captivating. But now she represents Jack Daniels? Can you hang on for the wild ride? Maybe.
Alana seems to have the sense of humor. She’s cute. She’s the girl next door. She’s been in a movie (‘Licorice Pizza’). This is all a composite of qualities of we’d all definitely want to be around. Myself included. So is she the right one? Maybe.
In this equation of me going out with the right HAIM sister — they’ll all have to be interested in me. We’ll save that problem for another time. But is it probable? Maybe.
Is there a cousin-HAIM? Will that throw a wrench into things? You’re close to making your selection, then this cool, funny HAIM cousin walks in, and then you have to re-evaluate. I’m ready for anything. It could happen. Maybe.
Danielle is on vocals and on lead guitar. I thought this made her the oldest sister, but to my surprise, this isn’t true. Este is the oldest. Danielle is the middle child. Alana is the youngest. Does this weigh into my thought process in choosing which HAIM sister I’d like to go out with? Maybe.
What’s in front of us, in this new puzzle, is three distinctly different women, with different styles. It’s a ‘Friends’ 3-way choice all over again. Do you want to be with Monica, Rachel or Pheobe?
Like Mary Ann and Ginger, the debate goes on. From Gilligan’s Island to the Band HAIM, it’s all women you’d be happy just to be around.
Would they want to be with you? Hopefully. Maybe.
