Ugh! I just get so worked up these days with the way things are going in this country. I want to tell the misinformed what’s really going on so I get involved in spirited debate with strangers, family members, anybody. But where does that get me? Especially since it’s all been conveyed in more beautiful detail and with a rich flavor of language in my novel Detective Kojak Pikachu-Holmes And The Ambiguous Origin of Chinese Checkers That’s Been Overlooked For Far Too Long.

Yes, my self-published series that follows the courageous Detective Kojak Pikachu-Holmes — a subtle nod to some of my favorite detectives — and his unflinching work with the LAPD’s UBGOU — unclear board game origin unit — has covered all these topics and more in its prolific run.

For instance, when someone asks me about critical race theory I could speak my mind. But I should really point them in the direction of book one, page 234 when Detective KP-H discovers that Chinese Checkers are not actually Chinese. He realizes that although the board game has “Chinese” in its name and the place where it was manufactured is in fact Shanghai, an anonymous tipper who owns a computer delivers solid evidence pointing toward the game’s German origin. The shocking revelation disturbs him, sending the presumably open-and-shut case into a tailspin. KP-H learns not only that his detective skills are severely lacking but also that he is racist. As he comes to terms with his horrendous racial error he has no choice but to rethink his life choices that lead him astray. He publicly apologizes to the Chinese community who he’s threatened with acts of violence in order to get to the bottom of the board game’s true origin. And after some coercion, they accept.

But summarizing it here doesn’t do a justice. Trust me. Not even close.

Or how about when people ask about the ethical issue of mixing business with pleasure. Now what better advice could I give then pointing them in the direction of book two’s love affair involving Detective Kojak Pikachu-Holmes and his female partner Detective Nancydrew…
