Excitement is the key

All is good and I am really excited for really good reasons!

First of all, Microsoft puts Ubuntu bash and binaries on Windows. Dual booters around the world hype like crazy. I really like the new Microsoft.

Second, next week’s email may not be delivered because I am going to be in Italy visiting a friend!

Third, I am really excited to announce that from now on, the main home for The HeadScratch will be Medium.

Medium is a platform for conversation on things. Exactly the same as this email. When I started it, my thought was that I would get replies from you. Many of you tell me in person about what you found interesting. I am not in email marketing or whatever. I do this for fun. Just tell me here, so others can see it too.

How to tell me? Medium has tools for you. They are simple enough but there is a guide on how to use them anyway. If you are unfamiliar with Medium take a look.

I’d love to see something written from you around here. It’s free and you don’t need to have anything else than a story to start. Maybe someone could write next week’s issue. Volunteers? 😀

Anyhow, I keep coming back to the notion that there are a lot of good reasons to not do anything. But when you do, you rarely regret it.

I am really glad a group of fellow students from my university did not find enough reasons not to compete and won not one but two prices in the IEEE Signal Processing Cup. The challenge was to recognise the country of origin of a recording using the signature of the country’s power grid. Awesome guys!

Moving on, did you like Friends? You know, Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey?

Good, now prepare to see it like never before and hate it. Here is how a TV sitcom triggered the downfall of western civilization. I liked it, but hated Ross and Rachel. Still do. Don’t ask me why.

Apple made a new iPhone. There is a spare 5s in the house and I tried once more to get accustomed to it. It does not work. My hands are too big for it.

I also try to-do apps all the time. I feel it’s the only app I need but every time I try a new one, I revert to my combination of calendar and an A4 paper in my pocket. It’s 2016. Why can’t anyone make a decent freaking to-do app?

Finally, wanna see what happens when you divide by zero in a mechanical calculator?

Until next time.
