Finding Humanity

There’s trouble across the seas

Big trouble in different countries

The nightly news does count

The many battles to surmount

If you believe the conspiracies

Either way, too many lost lives to count

Nuclear warfare coming to peak

Biological weaponry the world seeks

Who is mastering this crazy world?

Humanity surviving in an Earth soiled

The outlook appears pretty bleak

Yet we continue on with stubborn toil

Too many mass casualties

Who is keeping score?

When one war ends, there’s more

The Earth’s many crises

Too much human-made destruction

That’s only the things we know

But cancer, AIDS, viruses to go

Why would authorities want reduction

When there’s money to be made

Capitalising on lives by trade

Why should anyone really care?

Doesn’t it all seem rather unfair

To bury our heads in the sand

Because it’s not done by our hands?

And yet it is that very tear

Of society’s fabric that stands

Let’s make a universal protest

That brings out the very best

Of those who remember humanity

And believe in having community

Let’s put the world to the test

To find what remains of empathy

Too many mass casualties

Who is keeping score?

When one war ends, there’s more

The Earth’s many crises

Too much human-made destruction

That’s only the things we know

But cancer, AIDS, viruses to go

Why would authorities want reduction

When there’s money to be made

Capitalising on lives by trade

Too many mass casualties

Where are the communities

Of spirit that protests the powers

The lives that are lost every hour

Is history marking the scores?

When one war ends, there’s always more
