The Tree

I’ve been a fool
A fool for so long
Things were just all wrong
It’s time to lift the wool
And open my eyes to see
The box of life’s treasures
Experiences that one measures
Each part of one’s own tree
I can feel my growth
Growth of the mind and body
The spirit that I embody
Against the obstacles I loathe
The hurdles that I must jump
Pain I need to learn to bear
The things for which I care
Along the road of many bumps
If I was a different me
A me in an alternate version
One with a different tree
Perhaps I could really see
A me without subversion
And follow what will be.
