Is it better to be big… (I can be tougher than anyone)

or small… (I can slip into tight spaces)

short… (I can hide under things)

or very tall…. (I can reach the sky)

Well, the answer is that none of that matters. The measure of a man or woman is not in body size, but in heart and soul, in goodness and kindness.

It is not the size of a man but the size of his heart that matters. Evander Holyfield

It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.
Mark Twain

The tallest men complain of having to duck through doorways and people always asking, “How’s the weather up there!” The shortest are teased for their lack of stature. The smallest are often bullied, while the largest are feared just because of their size. Yet, the heart of each may be the same. We need to look beyond the physical appearance of another and try to discover what’s inside. The common expression is: “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”

All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither, deep roots are not reached by the frost. J. R. R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings)

So, whatever our shape or size on the outside, we need to worry less about that and more about what’s inside us. Being content with what God has given us, while always striving to improve our true self, will bring peace and joy into every day of our lives.

Content makes poor men rich; discontent makes rich men poor. Benjamin Franklin

Those who believe and work righteousness,…He remits their sins, and blesses them with contentment. Quran 47:2

He is the One who places contentment into the hearts of believers to augment more faith, in addition to their faith. Quran 48:4

Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you. Lao Tzu

May God bless each of us with contentment in our appearance, secure in the knowledge that God sees far beyond our physical shell into our soul.
