Color is truly a magnificent gift for our senses. God created so many colors — think of all the shades of green on a hillside, or the blues in the sky, the vibrant colors of some birds and reef fish, the pure white of newly-fallen snow. Can you imagine a sunset without the deep red and orange? What would a field of daffodils be without the yellow?

In nature, color may serve an important function — to attract insects to colorful flowers, as camouflage to protect an animal or bright and gaudy to entice a mate. But it’s so much more than that. It is for us to appreciate and marvel at and thank God for. He didn’t have to create the world this colorful or this diverse, but He did.

… the people, the animals, and the livestock come in various colors. This is why the people who truly reverence God are those who are knowledgeable. God is Almighty, Forgiving. [Quran 35:28]
