He Made It That Way

You’ve cried
You’ve tried
To reach out
And everywhere you turn the doors shut out
You’ve tried to breathe, but the pain suffocates you
You’ve tried to fly, but life’s distress glued you
You say I love you, but deep inside you’re lost
Alone, alone, no one to toast¹
You wear the mask of a smile, but inside you’re burning
Because all that you do seems to take no turning
You’ve cried, the tears have run out and dried.
Your world shattered, your happiness it denied
Imprisoned nowhere to go
From head to toe
Then you say, my Lord
Heavy my trial my body can’t afford
Lighten my burden
Is as if I am in the Battle of Verdun
But the thing is, Your Lord always waited for you to call
Still waiting for you no matter how many times you fall
He sent everything away
So that you are only left to head His way
The tears, the fears, the pain, and all the locked doors
A decree to beautify you! not to drag you on dirty floors
He made it that way because your voice He awaits to hear
Over and over again never tires Him to rehear
Your call to Allah (God) is a mesmerizing screen² He adores
Breakthrough for Al-Mujeeb (The Answerer of prayers) like the rain as it pours
God willing may you then find all you’ve dreamed for here
If not, the hereafter even more!

¹ Toast as in a wedding toast
² Screen, meaning a screen play
