Hummingbird Ball
Hummers dressed in their God given finest
Came out this morning to dance in the dawn
Complex moves they flew to the morning hymn
Each vying to be the most elegant
And most graceful in their gorgeous dress
Unlike humans, males dress most beautifully
While their wives are dull and almost dowdy
Each move, each breath, each chirp they did for God
And God alone without even thinking
Of my clicking camera so close or
My awe at their beauty, grace and brightness
As they flew in praise of our Creator
All morning they danced around our feeder
Until the sugary water was gone
And then our porch was peaceful once again
