When you photograph it, a sunrise doesn’t look so different from a sunset.

But a whole day passes in between, and we can use this time to grow and increase our knowledge and find splendor and peace in God’s creations. When the sun rises, it’s a brand new day — a day we can thank God for being alive. And when it sets, we can look back on how we fared this day. Have we made a difference in our life or in the life of someone else? Have we spent the day wisely, glorying in God’s gift to us?

And even if we blew it, God will give us another sunrise in a few hours, and we can try again.

And that will be followed by another glorious sunset, with colors and patterns that awe the senses. It happens every day. It’s a gift from God. Enjoy it; marvel in it; use it wisely.

He created the heavens and the earth truthfully. He rolls the night over the day, and rolls the day over the night. He committed the sun and the moon, each running for a finite period. Absolutely, He is the Almighty, the Forgiving.
Quran 39:5

‘When one rules over people in righteousness,
when he rules in the fear of God,
he is like the light of morning at sunrise
on a cloudless morning,
like the brightness after rain
that brings grass from the earth.’

2 Samuel 23:3–5

When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator. — Mahatma Gandhi

Therefore, be patient in the face of their utterances, and praise and glorify your Lord before sunrise and before sunset. And during the night glorify Him, as well as at both ends of the day, that you may be happy. — Quran 20:130
