A spider’s web is truly a marvel. It’s a work of art; it’s a highly effective trap; it’s flexible yet strong. According to Wikipedia: The tensile strength of spider silk is greater than the same weight of steel and has much greater elasticity. Its microstructure is under investigation for potential applications in industry, including bullet-proof vests and artificial tendons.

The next time you see a spider web, please, pause and look a little closer. You’ll be seeing one of the most high-performance materials known to man. Cheryl Hayashi

And yet, we can sweep our hand through it and it will break apart like wispy threads. God uses this as an example for us in His scriptures.

Such is the destiny of all who forget God;
so perishes the hope of the godless.
What they trust in is fragile;
what they rely on is a spider’s web.
They lean on the web, but it gives way;
they cling to it, but it does not hold.
Job 8:13–15

The allegory of those who accept other masters beside GOD
is that of the spider and her home; the flimsiest of all homes is the
home of the spider, if they only knew
. Quran 29:41

The spider makes its web for the purpose of trapping food so it can survive. We often create webs of lies and tangles of treachery. We cheat and scheme, using pretense and falsehood to get ahead in this world.

O, what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive! Walter Scott

When an insect is caught in a spider’s web, it will twist and turn trying to free itself, but it only ends up more firmly trapped. That is the tangled web that we can find ourselves in, if we fail to be righteous and honest in our dealings with others. The insect in the web is doomed, but God has given us the means to escape from the trap.

Those who repent and lead a righteous life, GOD redeems them; a complete redemption. Quran 25:71

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. Acts 3:19

There’s nothing heavier than the weight of sin in our lives. It’s crushing. What a luxury to know the burden of it can be lifted off our shoulders if we repent and give it to God. Terri Blackstock

When we repent, the web begins to fall apart, like a spider’s web after a wind, and we can navigate our way out of the sticky threads that have been tying us up and holding us back.

And then we can simply enjoy the intricate beauty of a spider’s web, the mighty craft of a delicate creature. A gift from God.
