How To Pack For A Business Trip
Here’s the thing. No one is an expert at packing. Whether you’re a business travel veteran or a newcomer we have some tips to ease your packing worries and get you focused and relaxed for your trip.
1. Choose the right time to pack
The best time to pack is when you can do so with no interruptions. It is important to have good concentration when packing or you can find yourself missing essential items on your trip. We recommend the evening before your trip.
*Tip- Packing in the bedroom on the bed is the ideal setting. It gives you the space to layout the items that you need and then pack them one by one.
2. Choosing what to bring
The next thing to decide is what exactly you need to bring. A common mistake among inexperienced packers is bringing too much stuff. To avoid this common rookie mistake all you need to remember are the 3 W’s.
WHO
Who are you seeing at your destination. Is it a meeting with the executive board or is it a casual lunch with a client?
WHAT
What are you doing at your destination?
WEATHER
What will the weather be like? This is a crucial deciding factor on what items need to be in your suitcase. “There is no such thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothing.”
*Tip- Bring versatile items that can be dressed up or dressed down. It will help to reduce the items you need to bring and save you the hassle of having to plan attire to transition from formal day-wear to casual evening wear.
3. Business travel essentials
When in doubt of what items to bring here are some things you will definitely need:
· White shirt
· Blue Suit
· Black/ Brown shoes
· Wash Bag (razor, tooth brush, tooth paste, after shave etc.)
4. Packing
· Shoes go in first (smaller items such as ties and socks can be stored inside)
· Store shoes in a dust bag
· Roll your clothes, DON’T fold (saves space)
· Most commonly forgotten items: cuff links, ties and sunglasses
