The Unexpected Helping Hand

It’s not what you have, but what you make of it that delights you.

Don’t you just hate it when you have got yourself all worked up and excited about something and for some stupid reason it all just fails to stick together. Oh how grateful you feel when on such occasions you pick up your phone to look for a solution (well, more out of habit than anything) and you actually find one. A proud moment for the HereNow team came when we heard our app came to the rescue of one of our users who found himself in a similar problem. This is what we made of his story:

So the other day he had plans to meet up with his friend and then head off to to the other end of the city for the famed brewed beer of Watchtower (name changed). As luck would have it, they found themselves in the midst of such slow moving cars that snails would have envied their pace. Oh why blame luck when you have Bangalore’s roads and traffic all up and ready to take the fall for a man’s unpunctuality. As they were sitting there, feeling time warped and wondering whether they’ll reach Watchtower before the final ring, his phone buzzed. He checked to see a notification from HereNow which was in fact about the traffic congestion in which they felt trapped.

Apparently another pothole related incident had led the police to barricade off a side of the road and owing to the hyper local prioritising of posts on the app, he got the notification as it wasn’t too far away from where they were. So he started surfing the app, trying to find out whether there was anything of interest in there. That’s when he saw an event happening not too far away from where they were. Somebody had posted about an acoustic party happening at a Brewpub. Watchtower now looking more and more like a bleak possibility, he showed the post to his friend. They exchanged that defeated glance knowing this was the best possible option for them now, and so asked the cab driver to alter their course. As soon as they were off the Ring road, traffic thinned and their movement became more fluid. Cruising their way through the evening Bangalore traffic, they reached the pub at around 10.

The music playing over there strummed their eardrums in a pleasant congruence with the brewed wheat beer, or Hefeweizen as it is called. The ambience, the food and the beer all were ingredients for a night well spent. They actually ended up having a pretty good time at the pub if you take into account just how frustrated they were a few hours ago while stuck in traffic. Through HereNow they got to know about this alternative where otherwise they were in a fix as to what is to be done. It was like throwing a stone in the dark and hitting your mark. Glad to have found something which helps in more ways than you initially could have expected, the user was really pleased with his experience on the app. And trust us, so would you!
