A few years ago, I brought Guy Kawasaki, Apple’s first evangelist in the early 80s and author of the wonderful “The Art of the Start” (and a bunch of other books) to Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program. His lecture on “The Art of the Start 2.0” is super entertaining and insightful — you can watch the whole session here (including some hilarious Q&A in the end).

Before he went on stage, he and I chatted about future trends, how to spot them, how good Steve Jobs was at anticipating the future, and what it takes to be able to imagine the future. In this context Guy made note of the most powerful question in his arsenal of questions to ask of the world:

Next time you see something which is odd, weird, different, or just simply stokes your curiosity — don’t just register it and get back to the things you were doing before but ask yourself: ”Isn’t that interesting?”

I have used this question many, many times since and every single time it led me to a journey of discovery, exploration, learning and, without fail, insight.

Isn’t that interesting?
