Experiencing Cebu’s Sinulog Festival, A Vibrant Celebration of Faith and Culture
Join me in experiencing the vibrant parade in Cebu City — a dazzling celebration of history, faith, and culture — where boats, music, and colorful traditions bring the Sinulog Festival to life.
I recently attended the Sinulog Festival in Cebu City, Philippines, for the very first time. Although I am Filipino, I’ve lived most of my adult life overseas, so I have never had the chance to visit Cebu. Traveling from my hometown in Davao City takes a flight, so this experience was extra special for me.
The Fluvial Parade — A Magical Morning at Sea
On the 18th 18 of January, the day began well before sunrise. By 3 A.M., locals and visitors alike gathered at the seaport, buzzing with excitement. Our Fluvial Parade started at Pasil Fish Port, one of the designated locations for the event. By 5 A.M., I was aboard a small fishing boat with fellow enthusiasts, waiting under the iconic Mactan Bridge.
