I Learned to Appreciate Rejection. Here’s How.
It still hurts, though.
„You’re out.“
Out?
„What do you mean, out?“ I asked my coach.
„You’re no longer on the team, Tristan. Sorry.“
I was shocked.
No longer on the team? What? I was one of their best players!
„But coach, I don’t understand why…“
„You’ve been missing lots of practice sessions lately. We want players that are passionate and dedicated about our mission.“
„I am!“ I protested.
„Well, it doesn’t show. We’ve decided it is for the best if you find another team. Sorry, pal.“
I got up and left the room in disbelief.
Had I just been kicked out of the soccer team?
That was my first painful experience of rejection.
Missing out
Our lives are full of rejections.
Romance, friendships, sports, education, and job interviews, are only a few areas in which rejection is a constant companion.
Rejection hurts.
I hate the pain, and the shame, that comes with it.
