On the 19th of October, I went on a one-day Lonavala outing with my best friend. Lonavala is a hill station very close to my home, and I didn’t do any particular research on what to explore there.
Social media was buzzing with the reels of the mass blossoming of “Karvi Flowers” also known as “Neela kurinji” (Strobilanthes Kuntiana) in Lonavala in September and turned the valley into a purple paradise. Karvi flowers blossomed only once in 12 years, and they are nothing short of incredible wonders of nature!
My alter egos, the Photographer and the Foodie insisted, that at least I must see Karvi flowers, take some photos, and eat the wood-fired pizza at the Mapro Garden restaurant, while I was at Lonavala.
We left home at 7 AM and reached Lonavala around 8 AM via the old Mumbai-Pune road. Our cab driver informed us that visitors had already destroyed the Karvi flower patches in the valley, so there was no point in searching for them.
