Mediocre

There are 7.125 billion people on our earth and yet every one of us wants to be special; the feeling of being special which further allows…us to feel meaningful. If not to the whole wide world then perhaps to one nation, to the environment, to one field of expertise, to one institution, to one organisation, to one company, to one society, to one family, to one person or at least to one God (for religious people). Why do people want to have a meaningful life? Because we feel good. And one cannot feel good about themselves without feeling special, in different kind of ways.

Who…… ¶ I’m not sure how this happened but folks running community colleges around the country have discovered that students have problems. Who knew? Not only that but those problems sometimes make it hard to get to class (the kind you have to go to) and even make students give up completely. Now that certainly isn’t good for the goals of the student but it is seriously bad shit for enrollment numbers at the colleges.

My Chevening examples

My Chevening examples

I position myself as an active person and interested everything that I come across. And now I came to think about critically about…expanding the boundaries of my knowledge. I began to think about the Chevening when I visited their official website. It was really hard for me to describe my skills via essay as I grew up in a post-Soviet country. It is normal for us to be extremely modest and not talk about our best sides. ¶ I know how it hard to write essay because I wrote for a month. So I want to share my essay samples with any who can find it useful.

Comm’s Not Dead

Comm’s Not Dead

I’m not always one for ranting, but I feel that this particular discussion is an argument that demands to be heard.I came to college as a social work major and managed to make it through about half of my freshman year feeling confident in this decision. But after taking a few introductory classes and realizing I cried easily while watching a sad gum commercial (thanks Extra!), I realized becoming a social worker wasn’t the right career path for me. While I respect the hell out of social work majors and still believe they don’t receive the credit they deserve both during and after college, I knew it was a…

Let’s Fall Down

Let’s Fall Down

No child ever rode a bike, hoping to fall down and scrape a knee. Few of us ever answer a question in the classroom, or attempt to solve a…challenge at work, thinking it would be nice to end up with the wrong answer, or stumble upon a series of initially unworkable solutions. Yet, from a willingness to experiment, struggle, and face setbacks and failures which we learn from, we can ultimately develop deeper knowledge of a subject. In the workplace, such an approach allows people and organizations to create and innovate, which will increase the odds of a business surviving and thriving well into the future.

“You’re just a high school student”

“You’re just a high school student”

“High schoolers are immature, annoying, and don’t know how to do anything”This is what I constantly heard when I was in high school. Just because high schoolers are in their early teens, it does not necessarily mean that they are uneducated. Little do people know that these kids actually have the creative minds and expertise skills that will facilitate the next generation. ¶ On Saturday November 14, Secret Project conducted a blitz (workshop) at California College of the Arts (CCA).
